GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the death of a 42-year-old man they believe was assaulted in a house in Macroom, Co Cork, have began a search for a man they believe can assist them significantly with their investigation.

Gardaí appealed to anyone with any information regarding the unlawful killing of Don Geasley to contact them at a special incident room at Macroom Garda station but it is understood gardaí were last night looking for one man in particular to contact them.

They believe the man, who is in his late 20s or early 30s, was with Mr Geasley late on Wednesday night and they believe he may be able to assist them in their investigation into a fatal assault on Mr Geasley who was found with extensive head injuries.

Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster yesterday carried out a postmortem on Mr Geasley’s remains at Cork University Hospital which confirmed he had been the victim of a violent assault.

The postmortem has not been able to establish the exact time of death and gardaí are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests, but they are satisfied the assault on Mr Geasley happened in the two-storey house.

Mr Geasley’s body was found near a door leading to a patio at the back of the rented house in Masseytown at about 10.30am on Thursday by the owner of the property when he called to see Mr Geasley.
