Gardaí have seized what they say is counterfeit clothing, including fake Levi's jeans, to the value of €250,000 in Coolock in north Dublin.

Officers from the Anti-Racketeering Unit of the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Harcourt Square searched a premises in the area this afternoon and seized a large quantity of counterfeit clothing.

A Garda statement said it is believed the clothing originated in Pakistan. It is largely made up of jeans with the Levi's logo. They estimate the total value at €250,000.

The statement said today's seizure is part of an ongoing investigation involving the Police Service of
Northern Ireland. Inquiries have also commenced with the international criminal policing organisation, Interpol.

The Garda said investigations are continuing and that a file will be be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
