Twenty-two people are still being questioned tonight by gardaí investigating recent robberies in the city following their arrest after a series of raids across Dublin this morning.
A Garda spokeswoman said the suspects, who are being held at a number of garda stations throughout the greater Dublin area, were detained detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act during searches of dozens of flats and houses this morning.
A garda spokeswoman said: "The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into robberies in the city over the last few months."
The raids were carried out by detectives from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation backed up by as many as 200 uniformed gardaí.
Up to 60 premises were searched by gardaí who seized €100,000 in cash, drugs and firearms. Gardaí recovered €60,000 at one address alone and some high-powered luxury vehicles were also seized.
It is believed some of the suspects arrested are members of a Coolock gang. The suspects can be held for 72 hours without charge.
The spokeswoman would not say if the arrests related to specific incidents, but it is understood those arrested are suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of a family and subsequent robbery of a security van in which €2.2 million was stolen.
Three of those arrested were women.
