Gardaí in Cork are treating as suspicious the death of a 27-year-old man, whose body was discovered at his home in the city yesterday.

The man was found by a family member in a downstairs bedroom of the family home at Fairhill Drive shortly after 5 a.m. He had suffered injuries to his neck and was lying in a pool of blood. There were no signs of a break-in and no weapon was found at the scene.

The house was immediately sealed off by investigating gardaí. The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margaret Bolster, attended the scene for preliminary examination last night.

The gardaí said they are treating the death as suspicious and have appealed to anyone who may have information to come forward.
