Gardaí in Tralee are waiting to interview two young men who suffered stab wounds on the outskirts of Tralee, Co Kerry, early on Sunday morning.
The men, both of whom are in their 20s, were taken to Kerry General Hospital.
One man was released yesterday and the other is still in hospital.
The hospitalised man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and he was described as being in a stable condition last night.
Tralee Garda Supt Pat Sullivan said gardaí received a report at about 3am and went to the scene of the incident on open ground in the Balloonagh estate. The victims are not from the Tralee areas.
It is understood they may have been set upon by up to four men.
Close circuit television footage has been taken from cameras in the area and is being scanned for evidence.
