Gardai in Cork have appealed for witnesses after a man's body was found in a bedsit at Thomas Davis Street, Cork, yesterday, writes Dick Hogan.

Mr John O'Callaghan (50), who lived alone in the bedsit, was found by his landlord lying in a pool of blood at 12.30 a.m. There was no evidence of forced entry.

Meanwhile, gardai in Cobh are investigating the discovery of a man's foot on the shore at Marino Point in Cork Harbour. The foot was sent for analysis to Cork University Hospital and is believed to have been in the sea for some time.
