THE Irish ad agency of the year award was announced in a more subdued than usual ceremony on Thursday night. DDFH&B took the title and the piece of Waterford glass that went with it - though ironically the Waterford account which is currently with DDFH&B is up for tender. There was much talk on the night about exactly which of the three bidding agencies, including DDFH&B, would secure it. John Rocha is said to be designing a range of glassware for the company which is far less ornate and much more modern than anything in the range so far.
Predictably - and this happens whenever two or more ad people get together - there was the usual sniping about the Guinness ace going out of the country and the resulting ads which seem to be universally hated.
