LABOUR PARTY leader Eamon Gilmore has called on the leaders of the two main political parties to join him in a televised debate on the future of the country ahead of what he termed the most important elections in recent history.
Mr Gilmore was speaking at the launch of Ivana Bacik’s Dublin Central byelection campaign outside Leinster House yesterday.
Mr Gilmore said he had never witnessed such a concentration on national issues as he had in the past few weeks, and said it was of paramount importance for Brian Cowen and Enda Kenny to join him in setting out their policies before voters. “I believe that the electorate is entitled to hear the three party leaders, listen to the analysis they have of the current situation and consider what proposals they have,” he said.
