A 12-year-old girl who claims she was raped by her teenage uncle told the jury at the Central Criminal Court she kissed him some weeks ago at his 21st birthday party.

She agreed with Mr Denis Vaughan Buckley SC, defending, she had a good day at the party but said she was told by her father she had to go to it.

The girl's claim that she read an entry in her aunt's diary of how she (the aunt) had been sexually abused by a named person was denied in evidence later by the aunt who told the jury she couldn't read or write and never had a diary.

It was the second day of the trial of a 21-year-old Co Wexford man who pleads not guilty to 27 sexual abuse charges on dates between 1995 and 1997.
