A 13-year-old girl has been charged with smuggling almost £1 million sterling worth of heroin through an airport, British Customs and Excise said today.
The girl was arrested at Manchester Airport after stepping off a flight from the Pakistani capital Islamabad at 4 p.m. on Monday.
Customs officers recovered 13 kilogrammes of heroin with a street value of £910,000.
The girl, who has not been named, has been bailed into the care of social services in Bradford, West Yorkshire, and will appear before magistrates in Manchester on Thursday.

A Customs and Excise spokesman said: "She appears to have been travelling alone. She was charged last night by the airport police. I can confirm she is a British national".
