Pawel Kalite (29) and Marius Szwajkos (27) were stabbed in the throat and head with a screwdriver.

Both men had come to Ireland last summer to seek work and were working in a crash repair centre at the time of their murders.

They were attacked after they became involved in an argument with teenagers outside shops on Benbulben Road, a short distance from where they lived, at 6.50pm last Saturday week. Both men died from their injuries at St James's Hospital.

Gardaí have already arrested three teenagers , aged 19, 16 and 15. They believe these were involved in an altercation with the men which culminated in their double stabbing. The three were questioned at length last week before being released without charge.

A file on their alleged roles in the killings is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The murder weapon has not been found.

A number of other people at the scene, including teenagers who were in the company of the alleged killers, have been spoken to by gardaí and have given statements.

While some have co-operated with gardaí and have supplied evidence that might identify those involved in the attack other witnesses have proven less helpful.

A number of witnesses whom gardaí believe have been less than truthful about all they know are facing arrest if they continue to fail to co-operate.
