A three-year-old Co Fermanagh girl died in hospital today after suffering extensive burns when her nightdress caught fire before Christmas.
Rebecca Johnston died Crumlin Children's Hospital where medical staff had fought for weeks to save her.
The little girl suffered burns on the evening of December 11th when her nightdress was ignited by a candle in her home on the Cappog Road outside Enniskillen.
She was taken initially to the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen with her mother who suffered burns to her hands as she frantically tried to beat out the flames.
Later it was decided Rebecca needed specialist treatment and she was taken by ambulance to Dublin with a PSNI escort to the border and Garda escort the rest of the way.
The Dublin coroner is to investigate her tragic death and the PSNI has said it will provide whatever assistance is required.
