Two men jailed for failing to give a commitment to the High Court not to interfere with road-widening works at the Glen of the Downs in Co Wicklow went on hunger strike at Cloverhill Prison in Dublin yesterday.

Mr Dominic Wolfe and Mr Michael Hammond, both British nationals, were imprisoned for contempt of court, which can be purged at any time. Mr Wolfe has been in custody since February 18th, while Mr Hammond, who resided in the Glen of the Downs for three years, was jailed earlier this month.
