Sex offender Gary Glitter is to appeal against a court order requiring him to notify police if he intends to travel abroad.

Former rock star Glitter - real name Paul Gadd - was served with the order after returning to the UK from Vietnam where he served almost three years in prison for sex crimes involving two young girls.

Glitter was not present today at Harrow Crown Court, in north west London, where an appeal date was set for February.

Under the terms of the order, Glitter (64), is not prevented from travelling abroad, but must inform police if he plans to be away for more than three days.

Glitter returned to Britain in August after serving a three-year  prison term in Vietnam for molesting two girls. He was jailed in the UK in 1999 for downloading child pornography.
