Met Éireann has forecast dry and settled weather for the holiday weekend and expects temperatures across the country to rise into the high teens.
It will be slightly cooler on the coast but temperatures will still be above average with little or no wind. On Easter Monday there is a risk of some drizzle in the north, but the high temperatures are expected to hold out all day.
It will start getting breezier on Tuesday with the possibility of some showers and a touch of frost at night, though it will clear up by the morning.
The good weather encouraged many Dubliners on to Sandymount beach yesterday afternoon, paddling, sunbathing and picnicking.
Others planned to go away for the weekend.
Traffic warden Maureen Donnelly ( 53), from Stoneybatter, said, "I'll be going to Wexford to visit my in-laws with my daughter, grandchild - and the dog, of course."
Celeste McGuinness, who lives in Belgium, was back in Dublin to visit family and friends.
Rafal Strus (25) and his wife Aneta (25), from Carpenterstown, Dublin, will be on the road this weekend, "We plan to go to Galway with a couple of friends just because we've never been there before."
Meanwhile, in Sandymount yesterday a coastguard helicopter, a lifeboat and around eight gardaí were dispatched to rescue a 15-year-old girl who apparently didn't need to be rescued.
The teenager waded and swam beyond the 200m safe area and appeared to be in distress. A local woman alerted the gardaí but the girl came back to shore by herself seemingly oblivious to the rescue effort.
