Irish Gross National Product rose by 9 per cent in the third quarter of 2000 - a slight fall on the same period in 1999 - according to figures released today by the Central Statistics Office.
The figures show the Irish economy slowed in the third quarter of last year.
Gross Domestic Product, which strips out the influence of foreign trade, grew by 11 per cent in the third quarter compared to 11.9 per cent and 12.6 per cent in the first two quarters of the year.
Consumer spending also slowed to 7 per cent in the third quarter compared to 9.7 per cent and 10.7 per cent in the first two quarters of the year.
