British budget airline Go says passenger traffic rose by 57 per cent in December compared with the same month a year earlier.
The no-frills airline carried 340,384 passengers last month, down from 357,000 in November. But the December total was up from 216,413 in the corresponding month in 2000.
Load factor, which measures the success of an airline in filling the number of seats on offer, was 70.5 per cent - up from 68.9 per cent in December 2000.
In common with other budget airlines, Go has been able to take advantage of a swing away from mainstream airlines following the terror attacks on the United States.
Go was sold by British Airways last year to venture capital firm 3i Group and the budget airline's management team for around £110 million sterling.
In December Go announced it was pulling its Dublin-Edinburgh service after a bitter price war with Ryanair.
