It was a blustery evening and the celebs who did turn up to the opening night of Aspects of Love in the Olympia on Tuesday were rather unceremoniously blown through the door. Undoubtedly the most glamorous was Carrie Crowley, who had an unusual connection with the show; the dress which wowed Europe when Carrie presented the Eurovision was designed by Synan O'Mahony who has been kept busy recently designing the Aspects costumes.
Carrie, who is to present a new TV show, Pot Luck, was just one of an RTE contingent that included radio producer Seamus Hosey, presenter Aonghus McAnally, Glenroe's Robert Carrickford and Father Brian D'Arcy whose new radio series, The Showband Years, starts next week. former Minister for the Environment Brendan Howlin popped down from Leinster House and although Bertie Ahern couldn't make it, his daughters Georgina and Cecilia came along.
Predictably, the razzmatazz of an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical drew in some of the showbiz crowd; Billie Barry, queen of the tots dance troupe came along, as did Maxi, while choreographer David Bolger represented the new guard. Bolger, whose latest work, Back In Town was the talk of the town, is currently working on the choreography for Noel Pearson's film of Dancing At Lughnasa. After the show, the cast flooded out for drinks at the back bar; Rebecca Storm, who as well as singing the lead in Aspects has also been asked to join the board of Vesuvius Arts in Dublin, was joined by her daughter, Rebecca Roberts, who is also in the show. Dishy John Barrowman was man of the night; despite having his own newsletter, John is currently without someone special in his life due to work commitments. Still, he says he'd consider it, if anyone out there makes him an offer he can't resist. . .
