Washington - Most of the remaining gold looted by the Nazis from European central banks has been returned and about three quarters of it will be donated to Holocaust survivors, a senior US official said yesterday. The fate of the six tons of gold, last of 337 tons collected by second World War allies after all the rest had been handed back, had been left unresolved by a London conference last December. The US Under secretary of State, Mr Stuart Eizenstat, told reporters that all claimant countries except Albania and the former Yugoslav states had now received their shares of the gold, held by a US-British-French commission.
