London - The Tory race for Mayor of London took a new twist last night when maverick right-winger Ms Teresa Gorman suddenly entered the fray, throwing up a big name challenge to front-runner Mr Steve Norris.
When nominations closed yesterday, Mr Norris seemed to be the only well-known figure among up to a dozen Conservatives contesting the party's ticket for the post. But Eurosceptic Ms Gorman later confirmed that she had submitted a nomination too, vowing to be the candidate for the "cabbies on the street and the ordinary Londoner".
