The Government was called on today by the Alliance for a No Vote to publish its legal advice on the power of Health Boards to take women abroad for abortions.

Ms Ivana Bacik, ANV spokeswoman, challenged the Government’s claim that if the referendum is passed, Health Boards would still be able to take pregnant women in their care abroad for abortions if they are victims of rape or incest.

She said that this claim was an attempt by the Minister for Health, Mr Martin to "mislead the electorate".

She said the referendum, in seeking to rule out suicide as grounds for abortion, goes against the landmark C Case.
