The Government signed an EU convention yesterday which will prevent drivers who are disqualified in one EU country from driving in another. The EU Convention on Driving Disqualifications will require an amendment of the Road Traffic Acts before it comes into force, and grounds for disqualification will need to be harmonised in EU member-states.
The Cabinet also cleared the Solicitors' Amendment Bill, which is intended to outlaw advertising by solicitors for public liability cases.
It sent an amendment to the VHI Act for drafting which will enable temporary residents outside Ireland to avail of benefits while on holiday.
