A 10-month-old boy who was abducted from his parents by his grandmother in Strabane, Co Tyrone, last Wednesday was last night on his way to Australia with his mother.
The police on both sides of the Border had carried out a widespread search for Seamus McNally after his parents reported him missing on Thursday, but early yesterday information was received by telephone that the baby was in a hotel in Limerick.
Detectives believe he was abducted by his grandmother, Mrs Margaret McNally, shortly before he had been due to return to Australia with his mother, Ms Melina Sexton, whose visa expired at midnight on Thursday.
Ms Sexton and her partner, Mr Christopher McNally, had been staying with the baby in Mrs McNally's home in Glenfin Park, Strabane, for the last six months.
