Union First, a dissident group within the Ulster Unionist Party, has called on the party leadership to stand by its manifesto pledge "no guns, no government" if it wanted to retain the confidence of party members and voters, writes Monika Unsworth, in Hillborough.

At a rally last night at Hillsborough, Co Down, the anti-agreement UUP MP Mr William Ross told around 80 Union First supporters, among them UUP MPs Mr Jeffrey Donaldson and the Rev Martin Smyth: "This Party will have to take a cold hard look at where the events of recent years have brought us in the esteem of our electors and start to rebuild the trust between our unionist political elite and the people who actually do support this party with service and cash on the ground."
