More than 100 groups and organisations have been chosen to receive funding totalling £2 million from the National Millennium Committee.
One hundred and six community and voluntary groups and special millennium committees are to receive funding under the Millennium Recognition Awards which were established to recognise the contribution made by local communities to the economic, social and cultural development of Ireland.
The 106 awards range in size from large renovation and construction projects to smallscale local activities to mark the millennium.
The awards are for funding of £75,000 or under and include a range of large, middle and small-scale levels of funding support.
