Barcelona captain Josep Guardiola is to become new Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle's first major signing, The Mirrorreported today.
The report said the 30-year-old midfielder would sign a stg£50,000 a week deal on July 1. "Guardiola will join Spurs on a free transfer once his Barcelona contract expires and immediately become the highest earner at White Hart Lane with a £2.5 million a year deal over four seasons," it added.
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has also been linked by English newspapers with a move to Spurs from Barcelona.
