Supermarket millionaire Mr Albert Gubay plans to donate half his estimated £275 million to the Catholic Church on his death. In an interview on RTE 1 on Thursday, he will explain that his decision is a result of a "50-50 deal with God". The programme, Ever Ancient, Ever New, contrasts his the life of with others on the poverty line.Mr Gubay made his fortune from supermarkets in Ireland, Britain, New Zealand and the US. Born in Wales to an Irish mother and a Jewish father, Mr Gubay (69) is one of the richest men in Ireland.
He divides his time between Dublin and the Isle of Man and is a regular Mass-goer.
