Workers at Guinness owned breweries in Dublin, Kilkenny and Waterford were back at work yesterday to relieve the threatened Easter holiday drought after talks at the Labour Relations Commission secured an interim peace.
Supplies of Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp, Carlsberg and Budweiser will be available as normal throughout Easter Week as work resumed at the breweries and SIPTU members carried out deliveries.
On Thursday night the five unions and management agreed a deal to postpone the proposed closure of the Dundalk Packaging plant, pending further talks, chaired by the LRC, which are scheduled for Thursday.
