Police in the North have said a CCTV camera in north Belfast were hit by high velocity gun fire in an attempt to destroy them last night.

The camera is situated overlooking a street close to a nationalist area where a contentious Orange Order parade will pass on Friday.

Tyres were also piled around the base of the camera pole at Estoril Park, near the Ardoyne shops, and set alight.

Nationalists had earlier held a protest against the security cameras in their area.
