Ian Woosnam and Padraig Harrington, both unseeded, beat favoured opponents to reach the last four of the World Match Play Championship today.

Woosnam, a late entrant because of American absentees, outplayed last year's runner-up Colin Montgomerie to win 4 and 3 over the West Course and follow his surprise defeat of U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen on Thursday.

Harrington was even more dominant in his quarter-final match with world number nine Darren Clarke, winning 5 and 4.

In the other 36-hole matches, English holder Lee Westwood and Denmark's Thomas Bjorn were all square at the 17th and European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance was level with world number five Vijay Singh of Fiji with four to play.
