Haughey `stable' in city hospital

The former Taoiseach, Mr Charles J

The former Taoiseach, Mr Charles J. Haughey, was reported yesterday to be progressing well in the coronary care unit of Beaumont Hospital where he is recovering from his collapse on Monday.

A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday: "Mr Haughey is still comfortable and stable and is continuing to make good progress."

The Fianna Fail Parliamentary Party yesterday sent its best wishes to Mr Haughey, following a suggestion by the former Minister for State for Agriculture, Mr Ned O'Keeffe.

It is expected Mr Haughey will remain in hospital for at least another 10 to 11 days.
