Pat Shortt: Comedian: Usually when I'm suffering from a bad hangover, I take Dioralyte, Solpadeine and Berocca in a pint and a half of natural spring water. If that doesn't work, then I have another drink!
For the New Year, I'll be trying my best to ease off the carbs, drink plenty of water and cut down on drink.

I find that if I do over-indulge on the Christmas drinks front, there are a few tried and tested holistic hangover tips that are invaluable.
I always "line my stomach" before a big night out. Invariably I would have a hearty vegetable soup or a baked potato. Then I drink lots of water before, during and especially afterwards, remembering that the hangover effect is caused by dehydration.
A Spritzer is a good drink as it combines water and white wine. I never mix my drinks; it's either grape or grain so my system can deal with the alcohol more effectively!
The next day I'll have my favourite fruits and juices for breakfast. Then I sip ginger herbal tea, which is an excellent hangover remedy.
Finally, a fantastic way to really lose the after-effects is to take some exercise to get the blood and lymph systems moving to rehydrate the body. So it's off to the Phoenix Park for a good stiff walk the next day.
A great idea is to team up with a friend and talk about the evening out at the same time.

I always take a pint of water before I go to bed after a night out and the next day I'd usually take some vitamin supplements to ease the hangover.
However, I generally don't suffer from very bad hangovers because I don't believe in going overboard on the drink.
In the New Year, I'll be presenting one of the Eurostar shows, so I really have to watch what I eat and stay away from junk food, even though I love McDonald's.
I generally try to watch my carbohydrate intake and eat a balanced meal with plenty of vegetables everyday.
I took up golf last year and I'm totally addicted to it, so I hope to play a lot more in the New Year and also to get in the odd game of football to keep fit.
