If you do one thing this week . . . keep those World Cup snacks healthy
You’ve picked your favourite team, you’re settling onto the couch and the match is about to kick off.
Need some snacks to sustain you through the next 90 minutes or so of excitement? Make sure those nibbles don’t add up to an own goal against your health.
The Safefood agency has come up with a few tips to keep the snacks healthy. Instead of distractedly munching your way through a jumbo nosebag of crisps as you watch the players tackle, pass and shoot, go for popcorn or prepare some toasted tortilla wraps, raw carrot and celery with salsa, humus or a yoghurt-based dip on the side.
Fruit and smoothies are match-fit snacks, and unsalted nuts and cheese and crackers can be a tasty option, but eat them in moderation as they can score highly on calories. Goooal!
