Actress Ger Ryan is one person who swears by Rolfing.

'I was 15 years going to chiropractors, osteopaths, bonesetters, spinologists, acupuncturists, orthodontists - you name it and I tried it to relieve the relentless pain I was having all over but worst of all in my head, neck and shoulders. It was costing me a fortune but I was told by a doctor I'd just have to put up with it," she says. Then she met a Danish woman, a rolfer who was moving to Ireland and was looking for somewhere to stay temporarily in Dublin. In return for a bed, Ger got rolfed and she hasn't looked back since.

"It was very gentle and unobtrusive and the relief I felt from all my recurring problems with my neck even after one session was astonishing. "

After her Danish rolfer left the country, she found Seamus Keane two years ago.

"He's a marvellous practitioner. Little did I know at the time that so much was connected to the way I was putting my foot the ground," Ger says.

"After a particularly gruelling schedule of 70 hours a week for three months I ended up with pain in my arms and chest and wasn't able to breath properly.

"My spine and ribs were stuck open, or something like that, and he sorted me out and has given me exercises to do. Every time I leave Seamus I feel full of fresh air. I feel taller, clearer and it's actually enjoyable to be in my body."
