The wonders of the humble tomato
Lycopene, the principal antioxidant present in tomatoes, may be just as effective as statins in preventing the early symptoms of coronary heart disease, according to recent studies.

Putting pets in the book
Pet owners are invited to write stories about their experiences with their vets in the search for the best veterinary practice in Ireland. The annual award, now in its ninth year, emphasises the importance of managing the health of pets through good diet, regular exercise, vaccinations, worm and flea treatments.

New clinic for Renmore
A new facility in Renmore, Co Galway offers post-operative patients and sports people the first opportunity to have their joint mobility and musculature monitored by state-of-the-art strengthening equipment.
The data is analysed by physiotherapists to monitor patients' progress more objectively throughout their rehabilitation programmes. The Rinn Mhor physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic, which is run by chartered physiotherapist, Noel Burke, was officially launched last week.
Slow food fest in Leitrim
The Organic Centre in Rossinver, Co Leitrim, will host its second Slow Food celebration on August 9th and 10th.
The event will showcase Slow Food producers in Ireland.
A workshop on Saturday will inform people about food communities.
