BUDDHIST TEACHING: Tibetan Buddhist teacher and author Sogyal Rinpoche will give a public talk entitled Awakening the Mind, Opening the Heart in the Mahoney Hall, Helix Theatre, Dublin City University on Thursday, June 22nd at 8pm.

Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of 108 Tibetan Buddhist meditation centres. Ireland has Rigpa centres in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Athlone and west Cork.

CHILDREN'S NUTRITION: Well known nutritionist and author, Patrick Holford will be spreading his views of the benefits of careful nutrition and dietary supplements at workshops in Dublin this month.

CHANGE YOUR TASTE BUDS: Six weeks to change your taste buds is the clever concept used to encourage people to reduce salt in their diet. Launched last week by safefood, the food safety board, the initiative provides information and encouragement - particularly to workplace canteens - to help people use less salt and replace salt with pepper, garlic, lemon juice or herbs. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: More than 400 delegates from 27 countries will attend the ninth World Congress on Environmental Health in Trinity College, Dublin from June 19th to June 23rd. A range of national and international keynote speakers will address issues on four areas; environment and health, occupational health, food safety and public health.
