AYURVEDA TALK:Dr Donn Brennan, practitioner of Maharishi Ayurveda, an Indian holistic healthcare system, will give a public talk on his work at Bru Columbanus, Cardinal Way, Wilton, Cork on Friday, June 22nd at 7.30pm. OPEN HERB GARDEN:Dr Dilis Clare, a practising GP and herbalist in Galway, will open her herb garden to the public on Sunday, June 17th, from noon to 5.30pm.
During the open day, she will teach people how to make healthy herbal teas and show them the range of herbs she uses in her clinic. Donations will go to the Rape Crisis Centre and a tsunami building project. The herb garden is at 44 Seacrest, Knocknacarra, Galway.
SHIATSU AND PREGNANCY:Mothers-to-be and their partners can attend a workshop on shiatsu for pregnancy and labour on June 28th at 7.30pm in the Herbal Clinic, 5 Lower Mount St, Dublin.
Josephine Lynch, a teacher with the Irish School of Shiatsu, will show couples how shiatsu can help pregnant women gain support, relaxation and relief from associated conditions such as backache, morning sickness and constipation and develop a deeper connection with their babies.
Shiatsu is a Japanese body therapy which aims to balance the flow of energy through pressure on the acupuncture points in the body. Cost €45 per couple. Bookings on tel: 087-2372130.
