Treating depression with musicMusic therapist Jim Cosgrove will speak about how music therapy can be used to treat depression at a public talk tomorrow at 7.30pm in St Patrick's Hospital, James St, Dublin.

Awareness of child labour
The International Labour Organisation estimates that 218 million children are trapped in child labour around the world. Research suggests that 120,000 women and children are trafficked into western Europe each year. Combating Child Trafficking for Labour and Sexual Exploitation is the theme of a conference on Saturday in University College Cork which aims to raise awareness of these issues. Admission free. New push for platelet donors
The Irish Cancer Society and the Irish Blood Transfusion Service recently produced a DVD explaining the importance of platelet donors. Platelets are essential for blood clotting and can be damaged during chemotherapy. Many patients require platelet transfusion. Copies of the DVD are available from the IBTS on tel: 01-432 2833.
