HEALTH SCAN: Julie Feeney, composer, singer and producer
Do you think you have a healthy lifestyle?
Fairly healthy. My only real vice is working for long hours. I don’t drink much alcohol, I don’t smoke and I don’t eat rubbish food, but I probably don’t eat enough. My lifestyle is built around the schedule of my work. In the summer, I am going to go to Spain because I need to recharge and I have probably gone a bit longer than usual without recharging.
How often do you exercise?
I try to go for a good walk every few days. I haven’t done any contemporary dance or water sports in a while, but I feel a surge coming on soon! I love water-skiing, windsurfing and kayaking in Killary Harbour.
Do you get your five a day?
Probably not. I’d say about two to three. I like kiwis and I love spinach, that’s my favourite. I eat a lot of vegetarian food, which usually means getting the spinach lasagne.
Do you worry?
I’m more of a sorter than a worrier and because I self-release albums and produce all of my music, you get used to sorting things. At the same time I expend a huge amount of energy mulling, thinking and analysing my interactions with people, so in that way, yes, I worry!
What do you do to relax?
I love sitting in silence and I love spending time with my family. I also love watching comedy. Long walks are great for thinking. I love chatting to people, that’s a good way of relaxing.
What do you consider to be your unhealthiest habit?
Sitting for too long in my studio or sitting doing e-mails for too long. When working long hours without recharging, I get so into it that I forget to take a break and to eat.
