Do you exercise?

Yes, I try to swim at lunchtime every day I'm on air to try to have my head clear by 5pm.

Have you gym membership?

Yes, at the Iveagh Club. I started a detailed programme in the gym in September, got a slight injury in October and have to get back into it again to compliment my swimming. I recently got a full fitness assessment and will now start on a full programme.

What exercise do you enjoy?

When I'm fit I really enjoy working out in the gym but getting fit is the problem. I don't really enjoy swimming that much even though I do it.

Any exercises you'd like to try?

I'm hoping that the new programme will give me new ideas for some variety and will succeed in getting off the weight that, unfortunately, swimming doesn't do for me.

Are you a healthy eater?

The experts would probably say no as I follow what I call Atkins Lite, my variation on the Atkins Plan. My weight fluctuates and is a problem, but whenever I cut out the carbs, or cut them down, my weight falls and I feel far better.

What food do you love?

I love good steaks and have a weakness for chicken wings. But I also love imaginative and large salads.

Any unhealthy vices?

I eat way too much chocolate. I'm also addicted to diet coke.

Are you a smoker?

I don't smoke and I don't drink at home unless we have guests in. When I get out at weekends though I like to give it a lash.

Is there anything about your body you'd like to change?

Yes, I'm carrying too much upper-body weight, especially around my mid-riff and would love to lose it.

What's your attitude to exercise?

When I get into the routine I love doing it and hate missing a day. When I miss a few days it's hard to get back into it and it's frustrating that I lose my fitness so quickly.

Patricia Weston recommends:

Spice up your workout at the gym with these top tips.

Keep your own log of the exercises you perform at the gym and the classes you take each week to keep you motivated and record how you're following your programme.

Instead of getting on the same cardio machine every time, pick three different machines and workout on each one for 10-15 minutes rather than 30-45 minutes on the same machine.

Aim to try one new exercise class every two weeks.

Reward your exercise efforts with a massage or a pampering trip to the beautician.
