Campaign: Building on the success of the Slí na Sláinte route network, Slí 2 was developed with the aim encouraging people to make physical activity part of their everyday lifestyle.
Slí 2 comprises a series of motivational signs designed to promote physical activity, particularly walking. The signs are intended to inform people about the benefits of physical activity, to encourage use of stairs instead of escalators or lifts, and to motivate people to walk short distances instead of using a car or public transport.
Companies or organisations that introduce Slí 2 must agree to create an environment that will encourage employees, and customers to be physically active. This can be done by displaying the motivational signs, circulating Slí newsletters/leaflets, introducing the Slí Challenge and starting a Slí Club.
Vhi Healthcare recently linked in with the Irish Heart Foundation to implement Slí 2 in the Hertz head office, Swords, Co Dublin. Each employee received a package delivered to their desk. This contained a booklet on walking and a leaflet on "get active for a healthy heart".
They also received a record card to insert the details of the dates and lengths walked.
