SEAMUS HEANEY'S Selected Poemsand Marian Keyes's Rachel's Holidaywill be among a selection of books to be given away for free next March.
In total, a million books will be given away for free across Ireland and the United Kingdom on March 5th as part of an inaugural World Book Night.
Heaney is among the patrons of the event, for which 20,000 readers will be chosen to hand out copies of their favourite book.
Titles by Philip Pullman, David Mitchell, Margaret Atwood and John Le Carré are also included. It is expected that some libraries and bookshops will extend opening hours for the giveaway. Those interested in taking part can apply at www.worldbooknight.org
