Hear them roar as mobsters and molls set out to have a ball

A town with what Killarney's got going for it doesn't need too much push and shove in the publicity stakes

A town with what Killarney's got going for it doesn't need too much push and shove in the publicity stakes. Still, local interest groups like to sell their wares.

For the past six years the town has hosted a Roaring Twenties Festival. The time is once again at hand. From the 19th of this month, a three-day knees-up will begin involving, in the words of the organisers "frolics and fun".

There will be live jazz in the pubs, a gangsters' tea party, a bootleggers' ball, a mobsters' and molls' party, and a Great Gatsby Ball in the Great Southern Hotel.

High spirits and high skirts will be the order of the day. There will be a barbershop pub trail, a 1920s photographic exhibition and a ceili. There will also be golf, photographic exhibitions and fun for all the family.
