London - Sir Edward Heath marked 50 years in the House of Commons with a dinner in London last night. The Tory leader, Mr William Hague, Mr Michael Heseltine and other leading Tories all attended the dinner with the 83-year-old former Conservative prime minister in the Ballroom at Claridge's.

The guests also included Lady Thatcher who was the subject of bitter criticism from Sir Edward during her reign in power. A Conservative Party spokesman described the dinner as "a private occasion"
