A Lebanese army helicopter had to crash land today after being hit by gunfire. The pilot was killed and other crew members injured.
An army statement said the helicopter came under fire from "armed elements" while on a training mission over Iqlim al-Touffah district, a mountainous ridge north of a zone where UN peacekeepers have a mandate to operate.
An investigation was under way.
Iqlim al-Touffah is a stronghold of the Shia Muslim group Hezbollah.
