Irish firm Mercury Wealth Management has been bought by Swiss wealth management company Helvetia Wealth for an undisclosed sum.

Mercury Wealth Management specialises in the design and distribution of capital secure investments.

The move is the latest in a series of acquisitions and investments in Ireland, the UK and Germany by Helvetia Wealth, and strengthens its European market presence.

"We are continuing our strategy of growth and expansion and we believe that the relationship with Mercury Wealth Management will further enrich our unique range of investment options," said Helvetia Wealth chief executive Kamil Stender.

Managing director Gareth Fahey will stay on with Mercury Wealth Management in his current role. The company plans to make key senior appointments to its life and pensions division in the coming weeks. The company has almost 2,000 clients in Ireland.
