Stephen Hendry gained revenge for his defeat in the 1997 final by edging a final-frame thriller with Ken Doherty in the quarter-finals of the Embassy World Championship today.

The seven-time winner capped off a fantastic display with a break of 91 for a 13-12 success.

Hendry set up a semi-final clash with Ronnie O'Sullivan or Stephen Lee, who resume tonight at 8-8.

Earlier Matthew Stevens had booked his place in the semi-finals with an impressive 13-7 victory over John Higgins.
