A drug addict with a £90,000 a year heroin habit has been jailed for two years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, for raiding a Chinese takeaway.
Pierce Byrne (23) of Hazelwood Crescent, Clonsilla, was arrested for another matter when he voluntarily admitted his involvement in the knife robbery at the Magic Wok in Hartstown shopping centre on March 19th, 1996.
Judge Cyril Kelly said he would review the case on November 3rd. He said Byrne was serving another sentence and he had used the time to do his Inter Cert and undertake a football training course. He also claimed to be drug free. Judge Kelly will review the case to test the veracity of Byrne's assertion.
