A FORMER treasurer of the Transport Employees Tontine band Benefit Society can sell his home, the High Court decided yesterday. The society went into liquidation in 1985 with a £1 million shortfall.

Mr Desmond Hogan, of The Gables, Kill, Co Kildare, had been restrained by court orders for the past 11 years from selling or disposing of his property, or reducing his assets below £100,000.

Yesterday, the President of the High Court, Mr Justice Costello, varied the orders after being informed the society's liquidator was not objecting to Mr Hogan's application.

Mr Justice Costello was told last week the family home was put up for auction on December 15th and a condition of sale was the discharge of the two High Court orders.
