A man in his 50s has died after scaling the summit of Mount Brandon in Kerry yesterday.
The man had reached the 3,200 foot high summit when he suffered a heart attack. The Kerry Mountain rescue team assisted by the Dingle Coast guard were hampered in their rescue operation by thick, dense fog and heavy rain.
The Sikorsky marine rescue helicopter from Shannon had reached the scene when called out at around 5 pm but had to turn back because of poor visibility.
